Systema Health Arts

Systema is a centuries-old Russian-based martial art, which combines some of the best of elements of the many cultures that surround the massive country ranging from the orient, mid-east, European, and western. As with most martial systems, an essential element is gaining an understanding of your own health.  Breathing, movement, relaxation, attitude, mental focus, and control through self-discovery and mastery are some of the aspects that make it an excellent system for health.

Systema is a highly effective martial art that teaches the body how to move naturally with a high degree of precision and power, to effectively defend and attack. In the simplest terms, building good movement patterns builds new confidence in your own abilities; add to that a high degree of performance. This makes Systema an ideal training system. We do this through addressing movement first and building the body’s confidence in its ability to address the world with little threat. Then we use drills to increase one’s ability to address threat at the same time maintaining high degree of performance. This makes it a perfect system for those who are wounded, ill, and injured.  One of our functions, here at LifeQuest, is to help reduce fear, pain, and dysfunction with fun and practical movements that translate into improved health and joy in movement.

Nate Morrison  is our consulting instructor has traveled the world to learn from the masters. His experience as a combat veteran and deep interest in the health and recovery of soldiers helps him make instruction relevant and effective for all soldiers. When Nate Morrison returns from training and deployment to Iraq, we will resume having classes and training in Systema.
